1.1.
Before You Start Dragon Racing
Before you begin Dragon Racing, we would recommend that you obtain all of theGlyphs to fully upgrade your talent tree. This will make the races much easierand is required in order to complete any advanced race.
We have dedicated guides for Glyphs and Talents, which can be found below.
Dragonriding Glyphs and Locations
Dragonriding Talents
We would also recommend that you turn off enemy nameplates (Default Keybind: V)during the races, as you will sometimes fly through areas with a lot of hostile targets, and having your screen filled with nameplates will make the races unnecessarilyharder.
Finally, we need to talk about Thrill of the Skies. This is how most ofyour Vigor is generated during Dragon Racing. Maintainingthe buff is essential for completing races as fast as possible.
- Thrill of the Skies is triggered by moving at a high speed on yourDrake.
- Flying upwards will cause you to lose speed and lose the buff. This can be negatedby using Surge Forward or Skyward Ascent.

Things to be Aware of Whilst Dragon Racing
Whilst you are in a Dragon Race, you will notice checkpoint rings which youneed to fly through, as well as both beneficial and negative effects. In the sectionsbelow, we will detail all of these and what they do:
5.1.
Checkpoint Rings
You will only see two checkpoint rings at a time whilst you are in a Dragonrace.A Yellow checkpoint ring indicates your nextcheckpoint, while a faded Blue checkpointring indicates the checkpoint after your current one to help you plan turns andability usage.
You will also see arrows pointing you towards these checkpoints. These showyour direct path to the checkpoint and is not an indicator of the route youneed to take.
5.2.
Vigor Nodes
Throughout races (and more commonly in advanced races), you will see greenVigor orbs. These restore 1 Vigor when you fly through them.

Wind Boosts
In normal races (and some advanced races), you will see small clusters of wind.Flying through these will give you a very large speed boost.

There are two types of obstacles; flying into any of these will have a negativeeffect on you and, more importantly, your race timer!
Stun Orbs will debuff you with Zapped if you fly into it.Zapped will stun you for 2 seconds and remove all momentum. If you have the Ohn'ahra's Guststalent, you can Surge Forward through these and not be stunned for 1 second.
